Any ideas on what caused the die-off over 8,000 birds along the shores of Lake Michigan in 2007? These 8,000 include loons, long tailed ducks, white-winged scoters, grebs, cormorants and even some endangered piping plovers.

So what caused this? Damage to their ecosystem? Invasive species? Climate shift? Combinations of the above? Or something very different?

Ironic that quagga mussels are displacing zebra mussels. How there is a means to turn this around. Nicely research answer
