Autotrophic means you make your own energy, usually by photosynthesizing (Although there are chemosynthesizing bacteria in deep sea vents). Examples of this include plants and cyanobacteria.Heterotrophic means you get your energy by eating other things, so that would be things like animals and fungi.

Carnivorous plants are also not totally autotrophic.
