• china only just in the last few months took over from usa as the major emitter, and usa are still close second.
  given china have a population of 1.3 billion, and usa of 300 million, a back of the envelope calculation shows u.s .citizens are emitting over 4 times as much per person on average as chinese citizens.
• It%26#039;s a per capita thing. The U.S. produces more pollution per capita than China, however there are 3 times as many people in China and so China produces more pollution in total. Add to that the fact that China occupies a much smaller space and it%26#039;s really noticeable.
• Well, China is a lot more populated than the US. There is more pollution PER PERSON in the US.
• Depends on what parts. I%26#039;m sure there is a place in China that is less polluted than a place or two in the US.
• I%26#039;ve not heard anyone say that, but I haven%26#039;t looked into it either. I really don%26#039;t know.
• People who think that have clearly never been to China.
