Ursus, maritimus is not as a species in need of any human help-the US Fish and Wildlife, after being sued by several of the above enviro crowd organizations, and as directed by a judge of the 9th Circuit court, found that the polar bear is %26#039;threatened%26#039; by global warming, it appears that the USFWS was acting in collusion with the environmental groups to circumvent real science...you have been had, polar bears are in fact more numerous now than ever within the last 30 years....do a little research before you make a statement disguised as a question... grumpy old doc, very grumpy with ignorant askers..... 30% 3 Votes

• There are about five times as many polar bears as there were in the 1950s.
  
  The overal population (there are 19 sub-populations) is stable and has been since the 1980s. Some sub-populations are declining, some increasing, some are stable.
  
  It makes intuitive sense that if all the ice on which the bears hunt in summer were to melt, it could affect the bears.
  
  However that hasn%26#039;t happened yet, and we know that the bears can swim and can adapt - seals don%26#039;t comprise 100% of their diet.
  
  We also don%26#039;t know for a fact that the warming that caused the summer sea ice cover to shrink was in fact caused by man.

• The polar bears are fine. All of the footage you see of melting ice was shot in the springtime, when the spring thaw melts lots of ice naturally. It%26#039;s not the North Pole melting away to nothing. By mid-winter, it will all be back. • Well, Some people do. It really just depends on what kind of person you are. I mean, if your a teenager yea you care but there isnt really anything you can do to get people to make a change.
