Have you ever heard of examples of people utilising abandoned land for an agricultural purpose such as growing vegetables or growing crops of reed/willow for thatching/wicker.
I realise that rural sites are rarely abandoned but surely this squaticulture has occurred in urban areas.
I like the term vegetable squats. You see? Like vegetable plots.

@any1 I know a few Freegans, mainly American and Polish. Apparently roadside harvesting is very common in Poland. I also know of friends that go foraging in woods for mushrooms and other edible plants. However, I have never come across any group or individual specifically planting a crop with the intent of harvesting it.
I%26#039;ve been aware of Guerrilla Gardening for a while now via Current TV.

I commend you for growing vegetables but I wonder if it is being done on a larger scale anywhere; groups publicly claiming the land for urban arable projects.I can also understand the reasons for growing illegal plants in secluded public plots and harvesting in secret, if fortunate enough to live in a suitable climate. Of course, I would never condone this illegal practice. Look up Freeganism 0% 0 Votes
