Sweetheart, the entire south is country....LOL! That doesn%26#039;t mean you should take offense to it. Southerners are considered backwards because we are more polite, more morally conservative, and move our lives at a slower pace than the rest of the country. I think they are just jealous. Wink wink.

  • No I don%26#039;t. And I know country folk, I%26#039;m from Alabama. There are alot of country people there but you also have a huge concentration of immigrants from Mexico. I%26#039;ve also heard that Austin is a very populated modern city that is a good comparison to the Bay Area of California. So yes, there%26#039;s country people there but no I don%26#039;t consider it a country state.
  • You question was vague and confusing. Did you mean to ask:

    1. Is Texas a %26quot;country%26quot; by itself? Many Texas prefer to think of their state as %26quot;The Republic of Texas%26quot;.....as though they were not under the government of the United States.

    2. Is Texas a state that likes country music?

Having lived in San Antonio for MANY years, but now a resident of Minnesota....I can safely say the answer to BOTH questions is YES. Former Texan...Now a Minnesotan.
  • Well Im English and do not fully understand your history but from what I do know I would class Texas as a state and for now I would say that is for best. What benefits would Texas have as a country?
America has its problems but so does any country including mine. However I have visited the U.S. 3 times and visitied different states and met ppl from the net and I think you have a great country with great people. England considers itself as giving the world a civilisation and considers America the first true free country. regardless to wether we are correct the real point here is patrism. There are far worse places to live in the world who would love to have what we have .
  • I%26#039;m an East Coast girl, and I always had the impression that Texas is very much country, just a little rougher than the other parts of the south. I recently came to the conclusion that Austin is not country, however.

To give you more on my perspective, I never heard the phrase %26quot;honky tonk%26quot; until two years ago. So my view may be skewed.
  • Being from the neighboring state to the west of Texas we know you are country and it doesn%26#039;t matter if you are from the city or the oil patch.

But let me thank you for leaving your money with us, I know how the Europeans felt when we could still afford to travel over there.
  • Texas has country areas and city areas. I%26#039;m not sure I understand the question. Anyone that thinks all of Texas is farms %26amp; ranches is pretty ignorant. Just like anyone that thinks all of California is cities is ignorant.
  • I think that like most states it has both city and country areas; cities that come to mind are Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, and again like most states, there are probably more small towns and suburbs than a person could count easily.
  • Yes. I lived in Texas a year, and it seems to be its own country. Since Texas WAS its own country years ago (%26quot;Republic of Texas%26quot;), it is no surprise folks still consider it to be that nowadays.
  • Texas is definitely %26quot;country%26quot;. Hillbillies are found in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and West Virginia.
  • clearly, Texas is not a country. Although, it is as big as France.
well, it is prett huge, but still is a part of the U.S.
