Does anyone else find the summer depressing?

Best Answer

I used to find the summer really depressing. I think it has something to do with the way %26#039;the summer%26#039; is marketed to us: you are expected to be happy because the sun is shining and people are out showing off their tans and gym-honed bodies. It can be a nightmare if you lack self-confidence and can generate feelings like %26#039;everyone else is having a great time, why aren%26#039;t I?%26#039;

My advice would be just to go with the flow and not criticise yourself. You have the power to change anything you are unhappy about.

Take comfort if you live in Britain; the summer never seems to last long!

  • Depretion normaly comes with lack of sun shine, lack of vitamin D...
In the summer there is lots of sun:
So, there you go Vitamin D is found in many dietary sources such as fish, eggs, fortified milk, and cod liver oil. The sun also contributes significantly to the daily production of vitamin D, and as little as 10 minutes of exposure is thought to be enough to prevent deficiencies. The term %26quot;vitamin D%26quot; refers to several different forms of this vitamin. Two forms are important in humans: ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Vitamin D2 is synthesized by plants. Vitamin D3 is synthesized by humans in the skin when it is exposed to ultraviolet-B (UVB) rays from sunlight. Foods may be fortified with vitamin D2 or D3.
  • yes in a way. A lot of summers now there is global warming well they are just too hot! Look at the other year when at heathrow the tempreature reached fourty celcius.
This makes the old suffer and I hate to see this

And now more and more summers we are getting more and more thunderstorms and i hate them. Someone needs to do something about global warming and fast in my opinion!
  • summer depressing? surely you jest. anytime you can walk around and see hot looking women walking around in very little clothing cant be a depressing time. in fact it is a truly uplifting time of the year.
  • No it is not depressing. Keep cool, look at the flowers, listen to the birds and forget you were ever freezing cold, damp, wet and miserable.
  • Depressing is a bit strong. I prefer the Spring %26amp; Autumn times, even Winter if it%26#039;s not raining. I no longer handle the heat of Summer well, but I find it debillitating, not depressing.
  • It%26#039;s not the summer itself that%26#039;s depressing, it%26#039;s the accompanying loud radios, music and other such human-controlled intrusive noise that is.
  • To enjoy the environment, there are so many things to do. Camping, hiking, being alone with mother nature is hardly depressing. I%26#039;m 61 and I%26#039;m going rock climbing this summer.
  • Summer? Depressing? Your Kidding.
But I guess your summers maybe different, well, anyone in general, depending where you live...
  • I used to but now I enjoy it. I think it%26#039;s true what the song says - %26#039;Summertime and the livin is easy%26#039;. Well easier anyway!
  • Not depressing but the Sun can sometimes be too intense. It also makes me dizzy
  • Depends on where you live I imagine...come to Barcelona!!!!!!!!! Not depressing at all.
  • You must be doing something wrong, this is the best time of year.
