Government Should Step in and...? The government should really step in and help pollution in major cities!

They should install solar panels on EVERY building.

I mean, face it, major cities like NYC use up SO much energy. Probably more than 100 towns. Maybe I%26#039;m going overboard with that number.

What else should the government do to help cut costs and help the environment?

It%26#039;s up to you!

Well some people can%26#039;t afford to go Green. So the I think that the government should step in. People would be fine with it if they were saving money for the same things.

Thanks for the info and thanks for telling me that people will shoot down my idea but they can%26#039;t think of one themselves.

  • I think that they should enforce laws restricting the use of water, greenhouse gases, and electricity.... they should make every car a hybrid and do everything possible to protect the environment!
  • Do you have any type of common sense? When you put government into a solution they become the problem. The way you want to go about it is to turn a free country into a communist country. If you want to have government be a solution then they should stay out of it or give insentives for businesses to take care of the global warming, which really is a big scam. Oh to all you greenies out there before you blow your top by reading this, how old is the earth and what happen to the glaciers that covered most of the the northern hemisphere when we had the last ice age, Wasn%26#039;t that global warming?
  • It%26#039;s not the government%26#039;s job to tell people how to run their lives. Forcing people to be environmentally conscious- forcing solar panels on their roof and invading their life in other ways- would inhibit their freedoms. If people or companies want to be environmentally friendly, that%26#039;s fine, but it%26#039;s not the government%26#039;s job to force them to do something.
  • Solar panels, hybrid cars etc. all look nice and envriromental friendly at the first glance, but producing these objects is at the cost of a lot of pollution by itself, it is said more per kWh or mile traveled.... Using windmills to generate electricity takes 500 tons of concrete for the base of each mill, which also generates a lot of green house gasses. Am not sure if these constrains apply to wave generated electricity, in The Netherlands a wave energy electricity generating project will be launched in the coming years, but these kind of project located in the sea can be a hazard to shipping, and requires a lot of complex engineering, so costs a very high. So using energy saving measures may help a bit, alas those energy efficient lamps are also produced at a higher enviromental cost than the normal lamps.... Maybe we should build houses so that no airconditioning is needed when the weather is hot, is has been done but I think one would need more space than available in crowded cities.
