How do we stop or improve marine pollution? I%26#039;m writing a speech and I can%26#039;t find very much about this on the web. Does anyone know what we could do to stop it or make it a little better?

This must handled primarily be international treaty. It is already illegal to put any kind of plastic in the ocean anywhere.

As a person that has been planning a trip around the world by sailboat, I would say that the simplest and cheapest things can be accomplished in the small poor island nations. On a tiny island in Kiribati with 88000 people the norm is to take a dump right into the ocean. Supporting them on the rudimentary sewage system would likely do more for less money than spending 100 times as much in the US.
