but there are actually only 7.2%.who is using hydro to get electricity..(and apparently most regions of Canada esp.B.C are using hydro)..so how does this(like Earth hour, everyone shut down their light) help?

And if it%26#039;s true, as it seems you people believe, that making electricity in the first place, and/or using it is a bad thing, why do we even want to save it?
Doesn%26#039;t saving it imply that we plan to use it later? What%26#039;s the difference between using X amount now or later? 100% 1 Vote

Power generating companies don%26#039;t really generate a huge surplus of power, which would be mostly wasted (unless it could be stored, in batteries for example)
They usually generate to meet demand, and little more. A surge in demand too much above what is expected can cause problems.
If the demand falls (eg by turning off lights) then they don%26#039;t need to generate such a high power output, and can burn less fuel. 0% 0 Votes
