How is it possible to %26quot;waste%26quot; water?? don%26#039;t get me wrong. I use very little water and follow all tips and tricks to save every drop.

It takes times and energy to purify and clean water, and since a very large percentage of that energy comes from sources that pollute, destroy, or otherwise harm humans or the environment, it could be considered wasteful to use more water than needed, as it takes ever larger amounts of energy to purify ever larger amounts of water, which creates ever larger amounts of pollution, etc.
What is more, much of the world lives without enough water to live in any sort of healthy fashion, so it seems to me that the resources that are used to purify water in places that have enough could be better used to purify water in drier places.

• I am part of that army that takes your used water and prepares it to return to nature via the discharge pipe, ocean, clouds, rain, river, lakes, reservoirs, drinking water plant, homes and then back to us.
  
  Please don`t label us turd herders, it hurts our feelings. Our equipment dissolves the smelly stuff and produces microorganisms that break down and eats all the pollutants in the water, then they go into digesters where they themselves are eaten and neutralized by other organisms. During this process methane gas is produced to run our process which cuts down on energy consumption.
  
  As far as directly recycling water for drinking has had limited success, but can and has been done. As soon as people find out, the plants are shut down due to extreme protests. www.wef.org

• No -Billions of water are withdraw-en daily for agriculture residential,commerical and industrial use.
  The quality of water needed and the quality of water available varies significantly!
  Most of the water available is wasted threw leaks,evaporation,overuse, inefficient appliances,plumbing fixtures,and machinery. The biggest water waste in the USA is IRRIGATION this uses 80% water daily!!!
  Others are thermoelectric power generation, public water suppliers, homes, offices, and manufacturing plants.

• Yes, but there%26#039;s a catch. The water that goes through your sewage pipes get treated just enough so it%26#039;s safe to touch, but not drink. Germs are killed but chemicals are not neutralized. If you were to drink treated sewage, you%26#039;d be drinking all sorts of ugly chemicals that people put down their drains, especially in cities where storm water goes into the sewers. You need a much better water treatment plant to make water safe to drink.
• Much of the water used in the UK is treated for safe return to the environment - not for drinking. In many places we depend on raw water from reservoirs and rivers for treatment and pumping to our taps.
  
  In a very dry summer reservoirs get low and abstraction from rivers is reduced. So another reason to avoid wasting water is to ensure our supplies last as long as possible.
• wasting water is about the treatment process, when you leave a tap running it may well go back to the treatment plant but, the energy taken to treat and pump water to your property is the majority of waste. as that clean water you are sending back goes from your sink or toilet or bath into the foul water system back to the treatment works you may also be putting the treament plant under duress.! hope this helps.
• Yeah we %26quot;waste%26quot; water because we use it, it is not wasting it, just all the people that posted above me that have sex with trees, give birth to trees, kiss trees, shove trees up their ***, etc. think that if humans use something it is a waste, so I can%26#039;t wash my hands because I waste water. Do what my dad did, put a big sticker on your car that says %26quot;H20 Powered%26quot; you get so many greens.
