Not to sound sarcastic, but you would know if saw a torndao or not. Tornadoes/funnel clouds are formed when the outflow and inflow in a storm are the same or close velocity. The air starts to rotate and--tornado. Of course, there are other conditions that help it along-fronts, drylines, pressure, dew points, supercell or line. (Supercells are more dangerous.)
Watch the weather tonight, they will hopefully talk about it if it was.
I am sure it does not need to be said, but never drive into a storm that you think has a tornado in it. It is best to drive perpendicular to it(or so I have been told.) But if you can, get out and find shelter--not under an over pass though. A basement is best, if that is not an option, find an interior closet, hallway or bathroom. Keep way from windows, of course. IF you have absolutley NO shelter, lie flat on your stomach in the lowest spot you can find.
Sorry for the lecture, but you never know when you will need the information. But if you just keep an eye on the weather, you will be fine. 20% 1 Vote -
Obviously, it shapes like a funnel.
If it has an irregular movement, goin%26#039; from side to side and extend to the lowest level, almost reaching the land, expect for a tornado! Stay away from there, for the direction of that is unpredictable.
Have a nice day!...and save our Mother Nature. I%26#039;m the Mother Nature%26#039;s son, that%26#039;s why. 20% 1 Vote -
Also a way to tell there is a tonado is coming is if the wind stops blowing, everything is perfectly still, the air is hot and the ground feel cold.
