Is sleeping under a tree bad for you? I heard rumors that the tree could steal your oxygen or some really weird stuff. Is this true?

Best Answer

Trees will not steal your oxygen because they only take carbon dioxide.
The only bad thing that can happen is if the tree falls on you you could die

  • some trees such as river gums, will drop huge branches without warning, even on calm clear nights, it would be perfectly safe to sleep under some trees, but I would be very choosy to which trees i would sleep under
  • well yeah, if it falls on you.

almost everyone has said that trees produce oxygen, which is true.
mostly during the middle of the day, they use photosynthesis to break CO2 apart, use the carbon, and release the oxygen.

however, in other parts of their metabolism, they use oxygen, and release CO2.
but their metabolism is sufficiently slow that you%26#039;d find it impossible to tell, by the amount of oxygen in the air, whether they were at their peak photosynthesis cycle, or their most heavily oxygen using time.
    they%26#039;re just too slow.

  • UM..... I DO NOT THINK SO
  • as long as the weather is fine, there is some small hazard that you will get bugs on you or wake up with a leaf on your nose... but that is about it...

If it is not fine weather you may be hit by lightning.

P.S. The people above telling you that trees only produce oxygen are mistaken. During the *day* when sunshine is on trees, they use up carbon dioxide and make sugar... during the night they burn that sugar, using oxygen, just like every other living thing burning fuel... It is not a drastic enough thing though to short you of air! lol Lived primarily outdoors for about 15 years, and have a pretty decent background in biology.
  • sleeping under trees is very healthy because you are getting more oxygen which helps you sleep better and can actually make you more healthy.

  • no. trees produce oxygen. they use your carbon dioxide that you breathe out.
  • Yes, haven%26#039;t you noticed there are a lot of tree%26#039;s growing in graveyards, and all the people lying under them are dead. Beware!
  • tree%26#039;s produce oxygen, they don%26#039;t steal it

you might get hit in the head with a falling limb or something though
  • ...Trees take in carbon dioxide, and -produce- oxygen. Which is why environmentalists object their destruction so much; we need them to produce the oxygen that we breathe.
  • I don%26#039;t think so. Insects might just fall on you. Some insects like those white hairy worms are some that might cause you to have itchy irritations. That%26#039;s all. Trees give off oxygen, and takes away carbon dioxide, so they won%26#039;t suffocate you.
  • On the contrary

to sleep under a tree is therapeutic
they will give you oxygen not steal it
    .
And during the day they absorb the heat
and shade you from the sun.

    At night they release heat
to warm you from the cold night

    and in the morning
the condensed water dripping from the leaves
will refresh you if you collect it

If it is a fruit tree it will also nourish you .

Just do not sleep or sit under a coconut palm
,because a falling coconut can kill you
if it falls on your head
