Is society willing to pay for organic food? This is a serious question, and I do not mean to make a jab at anyone. Is society willing to pay a higher price for organic food than conventional? I ask this because a few years back when the price of corn was $2.30 a bushel everybody was gun-ho for ethanol, but as soon as it went up to $5.50(canadian basis and such), now everybody is saying wait a minuete, maybe I don%26#039;t want ethanol now because I have to pay more for my food. The same could be said with Organic Food couldn%26#039;t it? If say an entire province went organic, becuase the public demanded that farmers should do so and so the farmers all become organic, BUT when the general public walks into the super market and compares an Organic product, with the exact same conventional product from another province, but a considerable amount cheaper, do you think the average joe is going to say%26quot;I support the environment so I%26#039;ll buy organic%26quot;, or%26quot;why would I buy organic when I can buy the same thing a lot cheaper%26quot;. ???????????

It is a sliding scale for for most of us. If something is a little more expensive and organic we will buy it. If it is a lot more expensive, then probably not. The more people who buy organic, the more stores will purchase them, the more farmers will grow them, and the prices will go down. It is a fluctuating cycle. Corn will do the same. The demand went up, the prices went up, now many more farmers will be growing corn and then the prices will go down. Right now not enough people buy organic, plus the techniques are still not widely known, so the items are scarce. So prices are still high. If we all try to get the organic stuff when we can then it will help the trend and in the end be much better for all of us, including Mother Earth. Economic class - supply and demand

• Yes, they are willing. Some go out of their way to get only organic foods. With more and more people being diagnosed with cancer, people are looking for natural ways to stay healthy. Some buy organic just for the taste, others buy organic just because it says organic. But for what ever reason people are buying for, they are definitely buying.
• Most of what u buy is not organic. I lived in Ecuador for 12 years. There u find true organic food. One year the apples looked so bad we would only eat them cooked . There was kinda warts all over from the insects planting there eggs in the apple.
• Sadly, I think the majority goes for the cheaper junk. I would LOVE to buy everything organic, from recycled boxes, etc...but my wallet doesn%26#039;t allow it. :-(
• buying organic food is better for your body, and personally tastes better. especially organic meat, eggs, cheese and milk.
