Is there anyway to get rid of cicadas? It%26#039;s a bug that comes around every 17 years and makes so much noise, it is very annoying. I found some of their holes in the ground and poured gasoline and burnt motor oil in them, but there are still thousands of them. You can%26#039;t hardly walk outside without ear plugs.

  • silent dogood is quite right

with man killing so many of the insects predators such as birds ,or ground hogs ,gophers, prarie dogs ,raccoons ,
their food multiplies with out restraint

the first sign of eco systems in danger is plagues or insects ,and caterpillars.

Cicadas are lucky and announce the rain
to kill them will bring you bad luck
    and they send bigger cicadas
    to get your attention

nature can be noisy at times
that is no reason to start killing nature

Can you kill the sound of the surf
the lions roar in the savanna
or the monkeys howling in a tree

    all very noisy things

You cannot go around wasting gasoline on polluting the ground as a further example of mans destructive impulses following other ones.

this question is not really kosher in Environment

    try placing it in Politics
    they love destruction.

    or religion
    they are great on burning

you will get more people to agree with you
  • Hmmm, I am thinking that if you continue to pour gasoline and motor oil into their holes the tree above will eventually die, the soil will be toxic and your problem will be solved. Such a lovely indication of your lack of care for your environment and the creatures we share this earth with...
  • just got an e-mail saying spraying listerine around your deck and pool will keep misquitos away. Its worth a try.
