Is this a viable solution to reduce fuel prices in the short term? Or is this just another tactic of big oil and their dogs to ensure they keep receiving corporate welfare?

It will be 10 years before any oil we find today is in production! Did we really want to wait a decade and invest tax dollars that could be better used? Shouldn%26#039;t profit be an adequate motivator for a proven technology such as oil? Shouldn%26#039;t we use %26quot;cooperate welfare%26quot; to encourage new technologies and to promote improving existing technologies to secure our future energy interests? Isn%26#039;t that a better approach to reduce our energy costs and dependency in the short and long term?
  • Hell no.
They%26#039;ll only use the drill bits to drill holes in our money, making it worthless.
  • No. It will have no effect. Nobody remembers the first oil crisis in the 1970%26#039;s. At that time, the petroleum industry admitted that the world would run out of oil, or maybe it would run out of existing resources, early in the 21st century. Well, here we are. Prices are skyrocketing because at least 2 new major consumers have appeared on the market and the petroleum industry is still saying they can solve the problem by doing more drilling and to he** with the environment and impact on wildlife and other people. The oil giants need to realize that they are the new dinosaurs.

Although we can reduce our energy consumption, the rapid growth of population and, therefore, of energy requirements offsets any savings we make. It is time to develop and use energy sources that are renewable and non-polluting. Rows of wind turbines and banks of solar panels may look ugly, but the alternative is an energy shortage with the rich having all the energy they can afford.

Although nuclear energy is clean, it is operated by human beings and they are notoriously poor at accepting responsibility for the health and safety of others, including their own families. And I%26#039;m not prepared to trust an AI that was developed by humans either.

We are a sorry lot but now we must accept the consequences of our actions and try to rectify our mistakes.

Long winded answer but I hope it helps.
