Back when soda came in glass, there was a 5 cent deposit for the bottle because the pop manufacturer wanted the bottle back. Now that bottles are made from plastic you pay a deposit fee in certain states against the disposal costs. If you recycle the bottels you get the deposit back In CA they have a Cash Refund Value. If you don%26#039;t take the bottle to a recyclers, the CRV is forfeited or you take it to the recyclers and get your money back. This just adifferent name for the same thing.

Some recyclers buy used plastic bottls by the pound. The plastic still has value even if there is no deposit. It%26#039;s just like recycling aluminum cans. Call around to your local recycling centers to see if any have a program. You can also contact the local solid waste authority. 100% 1 Vote
