Our home is near one of those electrical things that kind of resemble the Eiffel tower...? Is there any danger of living by one of those?

This is what I%26#039;m talking about:

EDIT: What%26#039;s REALLY creepy about living near these things is that whenever it%26#039;s windy out, it very LOUDLY sounds like alien spaceships are invading! LOL

Hi,

As a power engineering bloke, I suppose I can make some comment, without getting terribly technical.

Yes, there is electo-magnetic radiation from high voltage lines.
In a misty morning, I can %26quot;hear%26quot; the buzz from underneath the lines, and %26quot;feel%26quot; the tingle.

So no denying that living near a pylon has some effect

However, it is minimal, and will not affect your health in any big way.
Unless you have a hearing aid, or a pace-maker.
Then there could be some effect.

  • I, too, live under high tension wires that run between towers. Our electric utility sends us notices from time to time reminding us that it is safe and the wires cause no harmful effects to humans.
  • I know I have read things that say there is no real effect from those towers and the wires but there is a field around it that worries me.

Some one showed me this once: At night take a flourescent light tube near the tower. It should glow! That made me think twice about buying a house near one of those towers. I know not it may not be scientific but I wasn%26#039;t taking any chances.
