It%26#039;s been a hot issue since the inception of the Clean Air Act and the Clean Waters Act which were inacted over 40 years ago.Any discharge point is called a %26quot;point source%26quot;. The States and Federal agencies have enacted criteria that these sources must meet. It would be illegal to just stick a pipe in a river, or a stack in the air, and start discharging.
There is a VERY vigorous permitting process that includes a design review of the treatment process, properties of the receiving waters or air (going back 100 years), and public hearings where any citizen has a right to voice their opinion on the subject. It can take up to 5 years to get a permit approved - and sometimes they are not approved.
Once the permit has been obtained, it must be maintained through a regular monitoring, both by the facility and regulating agencies. Trust me, they are most thorough. If you cheat, you go to jail. Really.
The permits have to renewed periodically (usually every 5 years). If you%26#039;ve been a bad boy, they can refuse to renew your permit, and your entire factory has to shut down, so it%26#039;s in your best interest to toe the line and do things right.
There is also a large group of us who came to age during the hidious pollution levels of the early 20th century, and got into this business to make a difference. We take this very seriously.

Well, pollution is what happens against normal natural cycle.
Humans are main cause of it. The way this world is made so good, everything has a cycle, nothing goes in waste.
Human demands are so much. We want more and more and very quickly, we want everything right now.
This is creating problem we are exploiting nature in rapid way, if it is not balanced it will cause big natural disaster as defects caused in cycle.
Well it is just not government can do, it has to be dealt will all of us.
Government needs to educated everyone, need to encourage people to live more naturally made things and give importance to recycling thing.
Main cause of pollution is demand of energy and if we want to get more energy we need to take more natural ways. Like solar, air and Water created energy.
Government need to stop using nuclear ways. Need to give more impotent to nature create more forests and preserve them. Do not spoil nature for our needs.
Whatever is said is less, if we don%26#039;t do anything our kids will live in different life, which will not be good one.

Start executing offenders. I know I wish I could every time I see someone throw trash out of their car. We as Americans are really trashy people, next to all the third world countries which usually have better educational systems than America.
Everyone looks to the government. Good luck, because they will not allow for the execution of polluters because they know they will lose all their special interest money because they would have to start killing off half the population to make anything work. 17% 1 Vote
