  • Don%26#039;t flush your toilets with tap water from the pipes. Use the water from your clothes washer and your bathtub to flush the toilet. You can put a large, plastic container in the bathroom and bail the water from the bathtub with a gallon pitcher (stop up the tub if you are getting a shower). The drain hose on the back of your washer is flexible and can be hooked over the side of a 32 gallon plastic garbage can--you can catch the water in that. Then use a gallon pitcher (or larger) to pour this water directly into the toilet bowl (not tank) to flush. That way you are not wasting drinkable water on your pee and poop. My family does it.
