The amount of waste that would result from constructing the rockets to put the waste in space would be several times the weight of the waste itself. Space travel is very costly and the effort it needs is a lot more than a more humble use of the little that we have still got.

Launching rockets also causes pollution.

Can I be in charge of the landfill? i want to fly around in a little space ship and move garbage around, plus I could keep an eye out for alienses way better up there
