I am not sure what happened. It has been recorded though that there have often been unusually cold winters thrown in here and there. Possibly El Nino and La Nina are having an effect. This winter certainly has been unusually cold, even in the Arctic. The old people in the Arctic say that it is the coldest winter since the 1970%26#039;s. With that said, the glaciers are getting smaller. However, one cold winter does not a trend make, so I guess we shall have to wait and see. 38% 3 VotesOther Answers (10)

You people have no common sense. There IS NO GLOBAL WARMING. Do your research and stop listening to the news. The media doesn%26#039;t want you to know that MOST scientists dispute global warming. Get off your gameboys, do some research and make your own INFORMED conclusions.

It is still a fact that the northwest passage stays open longer. For those who don%26#039;t know that is the sea lane north on Canada. In the 1700%26#039;s it never thawed enough to open. I might be wrong on that last part but I seem to remember that it was a much sought after shipping lane during part of history.Everyone thought it would be a shorter route to the West Indies.
