Also its hard for me to believe water just sits in that tall thing, but then again it is called a water tower *so confused* hahaha ya I thought this would be the best place to ask dumb question. Actually my dad works for the water treatment plant in my town, so he knows a lot of stuff like that! Report Abuse

water from the water treatment plant is just pumped up and elevated so all those tons of water can push down and create pressure so it can reach all the houses its simply refiled as needed with new fresh clean water instead of having pumps running all day which is very expensive and if no water is moving the pipes will just burst

I think that that is p art of the filter system and is is taken to the top filtered and then it is taken back through pipes and is given to people! I am not sure but this is my guess!

RESERVE WATER SITS IN EACH WATER TOWER. MOST ARE FOR FIRES IF A FIRE HYDRANT IS%26#039;NT AROUND, BUT IF NO FIRE JUST A RESERVE.

you gotta be kiddin....water is in water towers....it gets there by being pumped in...it is in the air so it will make pressure to flow good
