  • That would depend on the species of the tree.

Some hybrid aspen trees have been bred to mature in 7 to 10 years.

Quaking aspen is fully mature in approx. 30 years.

    Some pines in about 40.

Oak could be about 100 yrs. depending on the area it grows in.

I would suggest buying a book on silviculture if you really want to know since all different species of tree have different growth and maturity rates.

One thing is certain, once a tree reaches maturity its job of sequestering carbon and releasing oxygen is done and it starts releasing small amounts of methane to the atmosphere and also becomes a fire hazard.

At that point it is time to harvest that tree and give one of the new seedlings under the canopy a chance at some sunlight and nutrients so it can maintain the healthy profile of the forest and take its turn purifying our air and growing into a beautiful renewable resource for our future use. 0% 0 Votes
