What is the name of this shell?? It is round, white, with dashes of brown on the bottom and has a hole like thing when you turn it over but it is half covered by a thin white peice of shell. Sometimes people paint on them, although they are small, they often paint babies as they look like little cots!! Thankyou- sorry I just got brain block!!

• From your description of it being like a little cot,in the UK it would be a Slipper Limpet. Strangley enough this always bothered me, And I made a point of looking them up in my local library, as I would see them as while I was Cockle-ing, they were so common around the shores of southern England. I wondered if they would make good eating but the books said no! too tough. I never saw any alive, they grow in bunches clinging to each other and changing their sex!! 0% 0 Votes
