What is your opinion? There is a lot going on with the mutation of frogs due to nutrient pollution it is believed that because of nitrogen and phosphorus that the parricide that attach to frogs are increasing which cause the frogs to have more limbs. But also lakes and other fresh water bodies are being found to be filling in. What is your opinion on this? do you believe it is a immediate problem? Why? i just want any opinion.

Best Answer

Yes. Atrazine, found in an herbicide, has caused frogs to grow extra limbs and male frogs even develop eggs. Frog hormones are very similar to that of human hormones, so what if these chemicals also change humans in the same manner? Prevention is always better than a cure.

  • Who said three legged frogs were a bad idea, sounds like 50% more meat.
  • I don%26#039;t care about frogs. At all.
  • to much pesticides killing all the animal and human kind off the face of the planet, never had them when i was younger and we managed.if this is progress i call it poppy crap, it is just stupid.
  • Yes, it is. Common pesticides such as Roundup when used near a lake or pond can easily kill most of the tadpoles in that body of water.
  • Because their skin is much more permeable than other vertebrates, frogs and other amphibians are often much more susceptible to toxins in the environment (espcially the aquatic environment) than are mammals, birds, or reptiles. Because of this, they can serve as an early warning system for other species, since increasing concentrations of those toxins will cause damage in amphibians before they do in other species, as a general rule of thumb. At the same time, it is certainly a serious problem, as it would be if any large segment of an ecosystem was destroyed, as the entire system would in turn be likewise impaired, even threatened, if a vital component of it was lost (like frogs and other amphibians).
