What modern convenience should never have been invented?

if it sells, and is not hazardous, it should have been invented.
If it does not sell, I don%26#039;t know about it.
If it is hazardous, you should stop smoking or abusing it.
Cell phones.
nuclear weapons, lead paints, espestos sheeting, aerosol cans, work, school, money, pub closing time, cigarettes, alarm clocks!!!
The cellphone.

As for effects on the environment--that%26#039;s a tough one. I%26#039;d say the ccloths dryer--they use a lot of energy-, cost a lot-and frankly, don%26#039;t do anything but eliminate the effort of hanging cloths on a line. Really not a good trade-off. Now, its gotten to the point where neighbors are apt to complain if you hang cloths out in your own backyard.

ford should have thought it through more

ooh! and bras with clear plastic straps, very unsexy (shudder!)
guns, i mean come on, why do we really need them?
Anything that pollutes the enviorment that isnt a nessecity like cars; all the other animals in the world walk for miles every day, and some people would drive a car to a store thats about 5 min. away if you walk. I also agree with the gun person, fighting with swords is so much cooler.
