Why do I get shocked all around my house after walking around? How can I stop it? I know and understand the build up of electrons and understand the reason why I would get shocked...

What I really want to know is how to stop it.

Are there any air filters that and + charged?
Everytime I brush my hair I have to use static guard just to keep my hair from shocking me.

I am getting tired of walking down the hall discharging myself on doorknobs on the way down the hall just to avoid the big shock at the end of the hall!

THANKS!!

(I went to college for electronics enginering so you do have to dumb tech stuff up for me.) :-)

  • What tags you is the arc from grounding out. The trick is to prevent arcing. If getting zapped constantly drives you into a psychosis, carry a bare wire with you and let the wire make contact with a metal surface. The charge will go through the wire where it will arc and you wont. 0% 0 Votes

  • An easy way to avoid the shocks it to just discharge the static electricity you built up.

If you know that metal door knob shocks you every time, touch it with a metal key first. The Static Electricity will flow through the key and you will get less of a hit.

Increase house hold humidity will also reduce static electric build up.

If you remove the carpets on the floor, hard wood floors , or tile floors build up far less static electricity. 0% 0 Votes

  • increase the humidity in your house. During winter months the air indoors can become very dry and cause excess static build up. Install a correctly sized humidifier on your furnace, and you will decrease this and your heating bill. 13% 1 Vote
