To provide an extra hour of daylight when people can actually use it, and remove it from the morning when it is not useful.
And there are only 2 states in the US who do not observe DST, not 7 - portions of Arizona, and Hawaii (where it really isn%26#039;t worth it anyway). -
It was created by Bejamine Franklin. It is meant for farmers to have more daylight hours. And to reduce energy use.

I think the answers about extra daylight for farmers may be right.
However it seems like I remember debates when I was young about whether to continue daylight savings. The extra hours of daylight, for leisure time after work, during the nice weather, was a factor. -
It%26#039;s not like the earth actually goes through daylight savings like it goes through night and day.
It was created for the farmers. -
To reduce energy consumption.

It WAS for extra light for farmers to complete harvest in the fall, but with today%26#039;s technology, we don%26#039;t really need it anymore. I think we should change the clocks 1/2 hour and leave it alone. There are 7 states in the U.S. that don%26#039;t recognize daylight saving time. They%26#039;re the smart ones...

because that%26#039;s why we have an extra hour of sunlight, the sun sets later in the spring
