the Mayan people believed that on that date the world would come to an end ! our souls will meet with all the rest that have passed on this planet. we will all be in a better place in time. 100% 1 Vote

• Considering that the Mayan calendar was made hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago, they probably considered it more than sufficient to go up to this date.
  
  I%26#039;m not an authority on Mayan astronomy, but my guess is that this end date has something to do with their base-20 counting system, and their lunar observations. (Maybe from the origin of their calendar, 12/21/12 has something to do with 20^20th power days?

  3. Why does the Equinox come full circle, at the winter solstice in mid-December ?
  4. Why will there be a planetary alignment, not seen in 25,000 years arrive near that date ?
