clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight 50% 3 VotesOther Answers (11)

When the sun hits the molecules in the atmosphere, it reflects so we can see it. It is like how a rainbow forms, when the sun hits the water, you can see one or more of the colors of the visible ray. In the sky%26#039;s case we see blue. IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE REFLECTION OF THE OCEANS.

It%26#039;s got to do with the size of the nitrogen atom. Basically, blue light gets scattered in the air, so that%26#039;s what you see up there.
