for that reason it is good to have a volume of water on hand ,and the best way to keep it healthy is by having it natural so that means aquatic life.
    this is one reason.

The seas are being depleted of fish with drag netting in huge operation with big ships .this is another reason.

Another reason can be that we are loosing so much arable land to desertification so to have alternative farming is a good idea ,and Aquaculture is good for its surroundings as well so this improves the Environment,Beef on the other hand destroys it.

Apart from that aquaculture is a cubic way of farming ,not like mono cultures which are only on the horizontal dimension.
And there fore it has proved to be the most lucrative form of protein production that we can do .

    4 good reasons

.but there are a lot more interrelated reasons ,where by the water is used in rotation and pumped back to be part of irrigation systems, and the dams are part of water harvesting systems.By having all ground rain water flows, directed in to them.

Many fish in rivers are being fished into extinction (my local river lost 5 major species in 50 years).
, the removal of gravel in the river beds (for construction )has destroyed many breeding grounds for shrimp and fish.
So aquaculture also make ecological sense

We should always do pollicultures ,(which means doing more than 3 species) to avoid contamination of the waters by having to much waste from one specie

the very general rule is .
fish with mouths on top ,near the surface, those with their mouths in front in the middle and mouths facing the bottom on the floor ,this way the different species eat each others wastes.

I mention more on aqua culture in this page http://byderule.multiply.com/journal/ite... 0% 0 Votes
