Will smog deter mosquitoes? I know various types of smoke will deter them, but will smog? Do areas with a lot of smog problems not have mosquitoe problems?

Southern Ontario has so much smog that people are dying from it, yet we also have a lot of mosquitoes.

We see diminished mosquito populations mostly when we have a period of drought, when the grass stays dry for months on end, ponds dry up.

This does not offer a convincing answer, other than that more smog does not appear to be an acceptable solution.
