Will working with Greenpeace hinder my chances at grad school? I know greenpeace has a negative reputation, but i was just wondering if working/volunteering/interning with them will hinder my chances at a good graduate school program in environmental politics (NYU, Duke or Boston University) or even at getting a job with the UN or something like it in the future?

yes greenpeace is sometimes seen as an extremist group, however a grad school cannot reject you because of your choice of volunteer work, in fact many will give you extra points for working with a such a group

• Negative reputation according to whom? Certainly not negative in terms of environmentalists.
  I would think that participating in such an organization will only help your chances. It is experience in the field, after all, and grad programs like to see a candidate who has had such involvement to bring to the table.
• It really does not matter in the least if you work for Greenpeace or |Habitat for Humanity, or what ever you decide to do with your free time in regard to graduate school. Undergrad work and perhaps GRE and any other indicators of potential success are what the institution(s) are looking for in a post grad student. Just don%26#039;t fall off the Rainbow Warrior in front of a Japanese whaling harpoon or tether yourself to the Golden Gate Bridge and have a piece of climbing protection fail and you will be just peachy.
