U are headed in the right direction but the EPA would not approve. The EPA set new standards several years ago by retarding the ignition from 14 deg. TDC to 10 deg TDC. This lowers the chamber temperature. At 14 deg the motor is more efficiency but the chamber temp. is higher and that produces more NO2. Less CO . At 10 deg TDC it lowers the temp. Less efficiency ,less NO2 , and more CO.Good luck...

Try this instead...get a car that runs on natural gas (methane) . The mileage is the same, but it%26#039;s way cleaner and way cheaper to fill up (85 cents a gallon in Utah). Best of both worlds. I%26#039;ve got 2 of these cars and they%26#039;re great! I%26#039;ll list my sources so you can check and see if there%26#039;s a place to fill up anywhere near you. That%26#039;s the only drawback - not every state is onto this idea, so sometimes it can be a chore to find a place to fill up.

trade smog for mileage? Its a choice we have already made. The same goes for safety, cut out all the heavy steel and safety systems in a car and it will get better mileage.
