So you say that gasoline is regulated more stringently than blood? I worked at a blood and tissue center for over 5 years and your statement is so far off that I must laugh. When did you last see a government test vehicle at a service station, checking the contents of their fuel tanks that are buried underground?3 weeks ago
My new 2008 vehicle, with less than 5k miles, and I drive the same roundtrip to work for the past 6 months, and I am getting 6 MPG less per tank now. It has to be the added Ethenol folks.2 weeks ago
I do not believe it is water being %26quot;added%26quot; to our fuel for our vehicles are not stalling or pinging like they would with water, but they are averaging 4 to 6 MPG less than the vehicles got 2 or 3 months ago.2 weeks ago
In response to the temperature variance...The weather where I am has not changed much in the past 3 months, and my driving habits are identical- to and from work each day. And, my car is a 2008 with less than 5k miles on it. Just about all the possible variables have been considered, and bottom line is: The variables are pretty consistent over the past 3 months, and I, and my friends have watched this very closely, even bought fuel from different stations. We all believe the fuel content has had to change, for no other variable has changed that dramatically, especially to get 4 to 6 MPG less.2 weeks ago
People responding really need to read the entire post before making recommendations. My car is a 2008, with less than 5k miles, serviced at 3k miles with oil and filter changes, tires rotated and air pressure regulated. All the variables people have mentioned, such as temperature, driving habits, and vehicle condition have all been a constant, in other words, there are no other reasons for the drop in MPG other than the fuel itself, and it must have more additives than it had 3 months ago. 25% 5 VotesFYI in Canada all gas pumps are corrected to the standard temperature of 15C, meaning that in warm weather you actually get more fuel than the pump indicates. That%26#039;s why a fillup in the summer will show a lower volume than the same fillup in winter. 5% 1 Vote
