Most people in cities do not worry about the effects on the rainforest. But they should because of many reasons.
Rainforests contribute 70% to the total oxygen supply on the Earth. No matter where anyone lives, if the rainforest was cut down, there is going to be major effects on everyone.
2.) I%26#039;m not sure about the next question. I do know that only about 1% of the total number of species that ever existed are left in the world. Scientists have estimated that only a very small percentage of this 1% have been discovered and there may be millions of undiscovered plants and animals. The rainforest is said to have the highest biodiversity.
I don%26#039;t think that there is an exact number or estimate. It all depends. Every year a larger number of plants become extinct. There might be more deforestation this year than last year. But if you needed a number, than it%26#039;s possible to just multiply 100 by 365 and get 36500 plant species go extinct in a year.
