Tesla Roadster? ok so everyone%26#039;s heard of the car and it%26#039;s advantages...I want to know the disadvantages. From what I know it runs on some lithium type power (kind of like the same as your average laptop battery) just thousands of them. My thing is...ok....laptop batteries (just like ALL batteries) run out of juice...what happens then? and disposal...wasn%26#039;t there always contraversy on disposing of these types of batteries? Would it be better to wait for a more functional hydrogen powered vehicle than to get the tesla roadster. Love to read the responses.

Thank you

worm12ga, I meant if I should wait for a hydrogen car that was more functionally relevant, not that they are more functional but I got the answer to that.

Dana1981, it has been reported that one of the co-founders of PayPal is actually working on a less expensive tesla roadster (aiming at $30,000).

My question really was whether you guys felt that I should get one now or wait for another car. And if I were to wait for another car what should I get to hold me down for now?

Hydrogen cars have far more problems than electric vehicles, as discussed here:

There are actually a number of more affordable EVs in development and one already on the market. See the link below for a summary.

Many people think 2010 is the year to buy a new car because of all the new technologies coming out right around that year. In the meantime, a good option is an electric moped (see link above).

  • Well, it%26#039;s worth reading the Fortune Magazine article about the Tesla Motors Corp. That %26quot;first production run%26quot; consisted of precisely seven cars, all given to the people who run the outfit. The second production run is now up to something like five cars. You won%26#039;t see them crowding the highways anytime soon; the company has serious difficulties structurally, and by insisting that the car be capable of going in excess of legal highway speeds, they%26#039;ve compounded their technological difficulties: now they need a very high-speed transmission, normally not needed on an electric car. powering the Chevy Volt
