What are your views on global warming? I%26#039;m passionate about this global warming issue, but when I talk to my classmates about it, they shrug it off. Using the excuse, %26quot;It doesn%26#039;t affect me right now, so I don%26#039;t care.%26quot; Even when I told them that it was global warming that created Hurricane Katrina, they still said, %26quot;It didn%26#039;t affect me. So I could care less.%26quot;

I even asked my science teacher if we could have a day about Global warming, but she just said no. There was no, I%26#039;ll think about it, or Good idea. Not even a maybe. Straight out No.
I feel like the world%26#039;s going crazy now. And most of my peers see me as crazy.

I know Al Gore and several other people are doing something about this issue, and I was happy to hear that, but it%26#039;s still not being taken seriously by the everyday people I see.

I just want to know what others think about global warming, so I don%26#039;t lose hope in humanity.

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

  • I think that I have the same point of view that you have. Other students seem to say the same thing to me when I ask them the same question. People wondering why the ice is cracking in Anartica and why the Pacific is shrinking never think that it could be the causes of global warming. I hate to think what would happen later. I mean yeah the effects are not so dangerous for now that is, but what will happen later when things have become so bad that their is nothing else to do...BUT though some people just ignore the problem and go on with their lives, there are people like us who try to help out in every little way that we can. So don%26#039;t lose all hope in humanity just yet%26lt;(^^)%26gt; 0% 0 Votes
  • There is hope, there are lots of people finally getting it. Cities like Sydney even went through a night with lights out for a few hours to protest global warming. The Mayor of New York started a plan to investigate how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. California%26#039;s Governor has been a pioneer taking this issue extremely seriously and creating laws for some of the biggest greenhouse gases contributors, he has also come up with creative solutions such as green credits for companies and etc.

    Sure, when I talk about it to the regular people they seem like they wouldn%26#039;t care less but find the right crowd, not only will they give you hope but also they will give you ideas about how can you spread the word about this serious issue.

    There are a lot of things happening out there related to this issue, it%26#039;s not for nothing that the government raised their investment in alternative power sources, ethanol being the front runner. The political situation and the war in Iraq also have to do with nothing less than securing oil.

    Your teacher, has no clue about what is the future of industries, politics and the way society is moving tward in general.

    Industries and companies are racing to be frontrunners in the green revolution, there%26#039;s a lot of money and energy being invested in this right now. Connect with the right people, read the right things and news to be informed and aware of what is really happening.

    Forget the ignorants who want to keep believing that their world of %26quot;sugar and cream%26quot; will be eternal and indestructible no matter how bad we keep treating the the planet. It%26#039;s a question of time and we are getting early warning signs. It%26#039;s up to us to listen and act. 0% 0 Votes

  • It is happening. Global climate change has happened for over 4.6 billion years why should it stop just because humans are on the Earth. Climate change is important because it encourages evolution. Without it we may not even exist. Currently we are going into a system of warming which all data indicates is being forced by human activity. It probably should be taught in schools but if the teacher does not feel comfortable taking time from other issues it is her decision.

    Also Hurricanes are not caused by global warming. That is a consensuses among climatologist the higher ratings on hurricane lately is mainly due to the fact we have better technology to measure the winds now. Paleoclimatologist 25% 1 Vote
  • Hi,.......run for the hills.

    ;-) ....but shhhhh...its a secret we must keep from the masses cuz will run out of room pretty quickly above the 6500 ft mark line!

    P.S. the global warming u c on the media iz the flavor of the decade and they are ca$hing in on it,what they actually show iz how we modified the chemistry in the air...not much to do az to what iz really happening under our feets.
    Come out and play in the dirt and you will see how different it iz in the real world compared to what is still being taught and written in text books.

  • I%26#039;m passionate about this too. My opinion is that global warming is a farce hyped up by influential people pushing an agenda. There is no consensus, all of the data does not point towards %26quot;human caused global warming%26quot;, and oil companies are not the bad guys. Imagine for a mere moment what your life would be like without BIG OIL... no car, no lights, no heat in the winter or A/C in the summer. No trips to Europe, no cruises to Mexico. Electricity would be phenomenally expensive, farming and agriculture would still be using horses and oxen making your food expensive and rare. In short, you enjoy the lifestyle that you do in large part because some intelligent individual found out how to harness the potential of an extremely abundant resource. Think about that the next time you want to give %26quot;BIG OIL%26quot; the bird. I say screw the environmentalists, they are the ones trying to rocket ship our society back to the Dark Ages.
