Why would you waste activated sludge?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

So much is produced when cleaning sewer water that there isn%26#039;t a demand for it. Though many communities use it as an ingredient of for compost or put it through a digester to create methane to power the plant.

Also sometimes the water that the sludge is cleaning is high in toxic chemicals like heavy metals. They are able to clean up the water but the sludge would contaminate the soils so it must be deposited of in a secure landfilled. 100% 1 Vote

  • Generally you don%26#039;t. You recycle it in the plant until it is too contaminated to work well. Then you maybe process it into fertilizer. But some is just too contaminated and has to be incinerated/landfilled. 0% 0 Votes
