World Solar Challenge - question.? For the 2008 WSC, I%26#039;m curious onto how much those solar cars are worth, just looking for a general (such as $10k-15k).

Thank you very much for the help ^_^

If I like your answer enough, I%26#039;ll be nice enough to give you ten points.

there is a large difference between what it cost to build %26#039;em, and what you could sell %26#039;em for.
clearly they%26#039;re not street legal.
you can%26#039;t use them.

not that you%26#039;d want to.
if you got hit, they%26#039;d crumple and you%26#039;d be in real trouble.
and, since they%26#039;re pretty low, the hummer driver wouldn%26#039;t know you%26#039;re there -- might not even notice running over you in fact.

on the other hand, each is individually designed, carefully engineered, and hand built.
which means that potentially, each costs several hundred thousand dollars to create.
or should.
in most cases, they%26#039;re built with student labor, which the schools don%26#039;t pay for.
in fact, the students pay to work on the project.
which might imply that the school makes a profit on that part of the project, collecting tuition, etc, and getting work out of the students.

so how%26#039;s that for leading you around Robinhood%26#039;s barn?

It leads my thoughts around :P Thanks bro.

  • In a capitalist economy they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them.

There doesn%26#039;t seem to be much of a market for cramped single seat non-air-conditioned cars that can%26#039;t be used at night and which have less power on cloudy days (or further from the equator than the Australian desert) though.
