Are owls a pretected species in Kansas? I found out someone I know is shooting them! He shot a huge white one over the weekend. When I talk to him I%26#039;d like to know what I%26#039;m talking about.

I called Game and Wildlife. They said ALL owls are a federally protected species.

    • Probably not. A few owls fall under the migratory bird act but you don%26#039;t find them in Kansas. Barn owls, which are white, occaisionally get %26quot;out of hand%26quot; and need to be culled.
    • i think owls are an endanger species period
