Are zoos good or bad?
They are sometimes bad and sometimes good. I gotta do this for an English homework and i dont really know what to pick - good or bad.

it can be reasonably argued that they are bad since no wild animal should be caged. however, the other side to that is that it is better to be able to see a wld animal in a zoo than have to look for it in a museum. zoos are far from ideal, but until we deal with habitat destruction %26amp; poaching, it is the only way to hold back a mass extinction (which would drag us down eventually) besides, a world where the only non-human animal life is pets or livestock is a world in need a planet-killing asteroid. if only to erase the vermin species that caused such a mass extinction.

You have answered your own question. There are good and bad points to Zoo%26#039;s.
Bad (i.e. cruel to keep animals locked up)
Good (keeps animals approaching extinction protected)
Can%26#039;t you do both and then argue each side, that would make a stronger essay that just one view.

I think both!!
for the bad, I am not really keen on animals in cages...it seems unnatural. They should be in their natural habitat.
For the good, it allows a lot of people (including kids) to see a lot of animals up close and personal. It also helps to protect some animals that are on the endangered list and promote breeding of these animals.
It is a shame that we have to have zoos, but it is nice too, so there you have it, both good and bad.

Matters, if it is a large open zoo with the most natural souroundings fo animals, then it is good, but if it is samll and inaccurate then it is horrible. Zoos can also help breed more indangered species.

A lot of these zoo animals are rescued. chimps, orangutans, and other primates are rescued or released from labs when they have outlived their usefulness. if they are lucky they get a home at a zoo where they see grass for the first time in most cases. some have been experimented on too much and have diseases, they are getting the pain medication they desperately need, along with other medical treatments.bears, lions, tigers, and other large cats are rescued from state fairs and apartment living. they are forced to live in cages so small they can%26#039;t even turn around. sometimes they are lucky enough to get a hose blasted in their face for a drink of water, they don%26#039;t have a water supply in their cage. if they get lucky enough to get a home in a zoo these cats and bears get to run around and play, they can also climb into a pool or tub of water for the first time. where would these animals be without the zoos?

Write in your paper you cant choose between good and bad because it all depends on the trainers. They are good in ways when they educate us on how amazing these animals are. Some zoos however abuse the animals while others spend all their time with them having fun and enjoying life. I love zoos but it definitley hate seeing them behind bars because its sad(its like trapping them for our entertainment). It goes both ways. The austalian zoo is so kind to its animals most def!!!!!!!!!!

By and large bad. I know that the better zoos breed some rare species and then attempt to re-introduce them into the wild with various degrees of success, but imprisoning animals in small pens - animals that are hunter gatherers, is extraordinarily cruel. At the age of 7, I refused to visit any more zoos; forty years later I returned to one and was even more shocked and disgusted. Children and young people have the opportunity to see TV films of animals in their natural habitat or in many cases visit these places on holidays. Even if you live in Britain, a little bit of awareness and knowledge will allow you to observe many different birds and animals in their natural habitat, on a walk in the countryside.
