Do you think the killing of sea lions is a good idea to protect salmon populations? They are deciding to slaughter 85 sea lions per year in the us to save the salmon population. The harvesting of salmon has grown increasingly each year and over harvesting seems to no be noticed as much as. So I ask .....

To start with folks they are SEA LIONs NOT seals. I am not a PETA fan But I am not for the sllaughter of a animal for anyother reason than food. Salmon is endangered not because of the sealions but because of humans. lets face it if I dont eat samon for two years to help the population of salmon thats a good thing because I can eat something else. I just want to know if you think killing on animal so save another is ok.

Great answer. Iam no tree hugger but i dont think killing one species to save another is the answer. So are they going to kill the brown bear who eat salmon too!

  seals have been eating salmons probably even before we humans discover fire.
  we shouldn%26#039;t interfere with the natural order of things. its bad enough the bloody japanese and icelanders are killing whales. now people are turning on seals. and its the bloody americans! geeze i had a lot of respect for america but now i dunno wat to think.

Is it an overpopulated area that needs the sea lion numbers to be brought down so they do not devastate the area? Not knowing your source, I can not address the specific situation you are talking about.

  That being said, I would never put the life of an animal, fish, bird, or reptile over the life of a human. The sea lion population has become so large in area%26#039;s that they are depleting their own food source. If people have a use for the sea lion and they are plentiful enough to be harvested, than I do not have a problem with it.
