1) The underflow dam is intended to strain out the worst of the mineral contamination. The effluent is more than likely still pretty toxic to the environemnt.
2) The chemicals are intended to break down other products into usable forms. The remnents are toxic as well and nedd to be remediated. 86% 6 Votes
