How does a whole house fan apply to the law of thermodynamics?

If it%26#039;s colder outside than it is inside and you want to cool your house, it makes perfect sense that you would exchange your warm inside air for cold outside air. A whole house fan can do that, particularly if it also pushes the relatively hot air out of the attic.

A cool house could be built with a fan in the attic.
At night it draws warm air out into the night and fresh air is drawn in downstairs.

It removes the heat the same way a computer fan removes the heat from a CPU.
