How much electricity am I wasting if I leave all of my lights, tv, radio and computer on all the time?

I had a bet about this and lost! It seems you spend 9 watts a day if you leave your radio on.

Here is a table of %26quot;leaky%26quot; electronics linked from the article:

  • just read the electric meter%26#039;s reading before and after the switching on periods ! 0% 0 Votes
  • enough electricity to run about 8 lights, tv, radio and computer for a day 20% 1 Vote
  • You will use a lot...That%26#039;s just so much emissions released into the atmosphere causing our O-zone layer to break up, And when that has happened we could eventually have 4 seasons in one day...e.g Thunder/lightning, Hurricanes/Tornado%26#039;s, Floods, a lot of rain, Sewers/water pipes will be overflowing causing sewage to up rise to mainland etc...A lot could happen but not all this is possible by one person...But please it%26#039;s adding to other peoples emissions..Use electricity when you need, Like switch your dryer power point also the washing machines power point and your t.v power point OFF when sleeping and away on holiday%26#039;s/vacations/work...Any power point that is not in use like the kettle and toaster power point etc...But keep the mains on...Like your freezer/refrigerator... • Turn everything on, measure the current and multiply it by 60x24x365. Then devid by 1000 and you know how many Kw hours. 0% 0 Votes
  • I%26#039;m not sure technically how much, but I know it%26#039;s a lot. My electric company has also told me that even unplugging an appliance when you%26#039;re not using it saves you a lot of money and electricity.

In my house, I usually don%26#039;t turn on any lights unless I can barely see the room or what I need to get. I do leave the computer on over night a lot, but shut it down when I%26#039;m at work. 0% 0 Votes
  • You should try it for an entire month and then look at your electric bill. You can compare and contrast the cost. Then you%26#039;ll know exactly how much. Ha! 0% 0 Votes
  • wayy too much 0% 0 Votes
  • That will depend on your appliances. There%26#039;s lighbulb and there%26#039;s energy saving light bulbs. There%26#039;s TV and there%26#039;s plasma TV !
Take a reading from your electricity meter . Take another reading 24 hours later . This will tell you EXACTLY the answer you are looking for. 0% 0 Votes
