The best way to conserve natural vegetation is to ensure it is not profitable. for instance if a farmer can plant crops on a patch of remanent vegetation he can profit from it. if the government creates legislation that he would have to pay to clear that vegetation, the crops are up likely to be profitable in the short term and he is less likely to do it.subsidies in agro-forestry is also a good way as it promotes farmers to plant trees which can provides habitat for about 15 years, and the extra wood in the area may prevent native forsts being cleared.
its important to preserve natural vegetation and wild life as they form ecosystems and processes that prevent many other problems, such as erosion, rising salinity, wind damage to plants, hydrological disruption etc etc 100% 5 Votes
