I%26#039;m changing my toilets to low flow. Does anyone know how I can dispose of my old ones in Atlanta for free ?

  • Offer it on freecycle.org.
  • Leave them in front of your house on trash day....

    Most cities provide refuse pickup.
  • Find someone who is looking for fill dirt, backfilling, or is looking for free dirt. Ceramic toilets break up easily and with a minimum of effort (I rendered two into near bite-sized chunks in a short period of time barely filling one construction sized wheelbarrow and I%26#039;ve got lots of metal and screws in my spine) can be turned into fragments. I had the additional benefit of releasing some tension. What can I say, I%26#039;m a guy, (or maybe I%26#039;m just human) and I enjoy the sound and feeling of breaking up stuff. Do wear goggles or good glasses though porcelain is ..... read on... Many of these fragments will be quite sharp, knifelike even so some care should be exercised in implementing this advice. I used mine to help refill an area that I moved dirt from for a drainage ditch and I think the hardness of the porcelain amongst the pea gravel and dirt that I backfilled with probably only helped my project. The water is percolating through to the drain tile I laid in place quite nicely.
Give my idea a try I bet you%26#039;ll find lots of innovative places to leave little chunks of porcelain.
    Good luck,

  • Why? Even though a low-flow toilet uses less water, the water that they use is simply sent down-stream after going through the treatment plant.

Have you considered environmental impact of the manufacture of the new toilets and the impact of the disposal of the old toilets?
  • Wow! Do you have one of the good toilets that could handle the load without having to flush twice? No problem selling that one.

The easiest way to make a current tank-type commode work is to lower the amount of water in the tank. You can reset the float so it shuts off at a lower level or just drop a brick in there to take up some volume.
