If I have left on 10 100 watt bulbs on for 24 hours a day for 3 years, how much pollution have I put out?

So the total of these 3 pollutants would be:

55 lbs of NOx, 142 lbs of SO2, and 35820 lbs = 18 tons of CO2.

  • Very good Dana 19, I can add if you use LED bulbs you can make the same amount of light for just 10% of the same electricity plus the bulbs last about 50 times longer. LEDs are not common yet except in nightlights and flashlights but will be much more common over the next few years.

    Compact Flouresant lights are common now and use only 25% as much power as an old incandescent light. They also last ten times longer and cost about 2.50 to 4 dollars each so are a much better investment.

    A compact flouresant bulb can save 2000 times their own weight in greenhouse gases over its lifetime. (acording to Wikipedia)
  • none light bulbs do not %26quot;put out pollution%26quot;. the electric company supplying your electricity is another story though
  • Ask a lite bulb expert.... It all goes back to solar energy%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
  • you none,, power stations not enough to count
  • None if you are using a solar panel or windmill to power the light bulbs.

    My point is, you really cant pinpoint it unless you know where your power is coming from and how much pollution that power plant generates.
